White Fillings

White fillings are a composite of tiny glass particles held together by a resin mix. This material has been used since the 1960s for filling cavities in teeth. However, they have progressed immensely in terms of strength and aesthetics through the years and the latest generation of materials have been shown to be as strong as metal fillings.

A white filling will blend very well with the remaining tooth, giving the impression that the tooth has never received any treatment. Unlike metal fillings, white fillings do not stain teeth over time and therefore, provide an aesthetic solution to decayed teeth that are visible when you speak or smile.

Veneers

Veneers are hand-crafted thin shells of material (porcelain or zirconia) that are bonded securely to the front surface of your teeth to mask irregularities and disguise imperfections and thus, improving your smile.

London Road Dental Practice, Chippenham are experts in the application of veneers, which provide wonderful results on uneven, chipped, crooked or discoloured teeth. Our dentists have also used veneers to successfully treat gaps in teeth and re-align protruding teeth.

Veneers is a relatively painless procedure and is usually accomplished in just two appointments. During your first appointment, the dentist will prepare the tooth/teeth and take an impression of them. This is followed by a second appointment two weeks later to fit the veneers to your teeth.

Once in place, veneers have a natural appearance and can be cared for in the same manner as ordinary teeth. A veneered tooth looks and feels like a normal tooth and should last for 10 years or more with good care.

If prescribed appropriately, veneers can provide a quick and easy smile makeover. However, they are not necessarily the most suitable solution for all cases. If you wish to improve your smile, your dentist will provide you with all your available options and advise on which is the most suitable after assessing your individual needs. This will help you achieve the best cosmetic results and at the same time maintain good oral health.
