At London Road Dental Practice, we offer nervous patients conscious sedation. This is distinctly different from general anesthetic because you remain alert enough to respond to simple instructions to assist the dental team during treatment. However, you will very rarely be able to remember any of the treatment stage.
For routine conscious sedation, a carefully controlled amount of sedative is delivered through a vein in your arm or hand for as long as the treatment takes. This is a very safe procedure and your heart rate and oxygen levels are monitored throughout.
With conscious sedation, a normal dental local anesthetic is injected and most people do not remember this stage because the sedation has already taken effect.
